‘Th e world is crazy enough as it is. You just have to paint it.’
In Wouter Berns’ narrative paintings, the viewer is taken to a world that sometimes is unimaginable, but usually not impossible. Th e painted truth lies somewhere in- between. Berns gets his inspiration from everywhere: literature, mythology, world religions, music and movies. He is curious about people, how they relate to the world and to each other, and this is being refl ected in the whole of his work. For over thirty years he has exhibited his work at home and abroad. He lives and works in Kampen, but part of the year he can be found in his studio in Northern-France.
