Sophia Heeres was born in Zuidlaren in 1981, since 1983 she lived in Schipborg and currently in Amstelveen. In 2006 she graduated at the Minerva Academy in Groningen. During the time at the Academy she experimented with different materials and different styles, colors and shapes but color always prevails!

"To hold the attention I use uneven forms. One is larger than the other, so that the viewer's eyes are drawn towards the larger shapes first.
The most recent paintings are characterized by the use of forms in bright colors, straight out of the tube delimited with black lines, so the depth in the painting disappears. Strongly simplified shapes, with lines and colors rhythmically composed.”
